Shadow Reading Audio : Obama: The Power of Democracy

Before
After

<script>
If there is anyone out there...
...who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible,...
...who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time,...
...who still questions the power of our democracy,...
...tonight is your answer.
It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches,...
...in numbers this nation has never seen,...
...by people who waited three hours and four hours,...
...many for the first time in their lives,...
...because they believed that this time must be different,...
...that their voices could be that difference.
It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor,...
...Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian,...
...native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled,...
...Americans who sent a message to the world...
...that we have never been just a collection of individuals...
...or a collection of red states and blue states.
We are and always will be, the United States of America.

Yes, I have. I usually read self-help books.
It's quit interesting to me,
-How do you select books? covers? Ads? Book reviews? Word of month? Gifts?
I see the story shortly and If I like the story, I buy it.
I don't care about that kinds of things.
-Have you read any controversial or banned book?
No I haven't.

And I asked her
-Are you extravagant or frugal?
-What would you buy if you won the lottery for $50 million?
-What is your personal spending philosophy?

We put some words that we don't know.
These game was so hard.
Because we are non English-speaking people.
So It was so difficult to understand what she says.
But as you see, we were so interested and had a great time.

flipped classroom

I saw some videos about flipped classroom.
It was very interesting.

Korean education is focused around cramming and memorization.
Also I studied with these ways.
There are many problems.
one of them is students lose interest.
Many students study in the same class.
Some people understand contents of classes but the others do not.
Finally they lose interest.

But flipped classroom changed these problems.

I watched a experiment on the video.
At first many students slept during classes and they didn't have any drive.
Teachers changed the method of education.
"Watch online lectures at home. We will do another thing in a class."
At the beginning, Students didn't watch videos.
Of course, Teachers could do nothing.
But as time went by, Students saw online lectures.
So Teachers and Students could do something active and interesting during the class.
It was effective.
Finally students got better scores than before.
Also they didn't sleep during the class .

I think our education system has to change.
Because the most important thing is students have interest.
But our system doesn't give us something interesting.
It only wants us to compete with each other.
Of course, competition is important but It is too harsh.
I know that changing system is difficult.
However,I think they should think about changing teaching method if our country think students.

First SHELF Project

I explained my whole life.
It was quiet difficult.
Because I'm not good at drawing and It was the first time to edit my own video.
And I thought I want to learn how to edit videos well.
I'll study myself:D.
It was a good experience.

<Words that I don't know>
-anemia

-blood transfusion

Pros and Cons of Cohabitation

Last class, my lovely classmate and I discussed about cohabitation.

I think It is necessary to live together before marriage.(Not must)

We can get social benefit through the cohabitation.

If we live together with our partner before marriage, We can check their lifestyle to compare with our lifestyle.

Also If we resolve conflicts about lifestyle during living together, We can live a harmonious life and lower divorce rate because conflicts occur more less.

(I heard korea's divorce rate is 1st in OECD.)

Our society doesn't accept cohabitation, but the decision is ours to take.

It's my opinion  , I think many people have different opinions.

Here is a video about Pros and Cons of Cohabitation.

Payphone/Telephone - Maroon 5/Lady Gaga (Sam Tsui Cover)

  • a Short Description
His name is Sam Tsui who is a singer.
This video uploaded 3 years ago.
At that time, Payphone which was sung by Maroon 5 was popular.
And I think that He thought Payphone and Telephone(Lady Gaga) mix well.
So He mixed music.

  • Why you find it interesting
I always listen to music whenever i don't do anything.
Because I like music.
Then one day, I turned Youtube as usual to watch some music stage.
At that time, I saw Sam Tsui's video.
When I watched his video,  I thought 'wow. He's amazing. I like his voice.'
Also, I thought his musical sense is good.
So Whenever he uploads videos, i watch his video.
Not only this, others are also good.
Until now , i go to Youtube and see his video like a habit. (Is like a habit right expression?)

  • Language learning points
Here is lyrics.

                                                              "Payphone / Telephone"

(originally by Maroon 5 / Lady Gaga)

I'm at a payphone trying to call home
(Hello hello baby, you called? I can't hear a thing)
All of my change I spent on you
(Cause I have got no service in this club, you say? say?)
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
(Wha-wha-what did you say, huh? you're breakin' up on me)
Where are the plans we made for two?
(Sorry I cannot hear you I'm kinda busy)

I know it's hard to remember,

The people we used to be...
It's even harder to picture,
That you're not here next to me.
You say it's too late to make it,
But is it too late to try?
And in our time that you wasted
All of our bridges burned down

I've wasted my nights,

You turned out the lights
(Stop telephonin' me)
Now I'm paralyzed,
Still stuck in that time,
When we called it love,
(Stop telephonin' me)
But even the sun sets in paradise

I'm at a payphone trying to call home

(Stop callin', stop callin', I don't wanna think anymore)
All of my change I spent on you
(I left my head and my heat on the dancefloor)
Where have the times gone, (stop callin, stop callin')
Baby it's all wrong (I don't wanna talk anymore)
Where are the plans we made for two?
(I left my head and my heart on the dance floor)

If "Happy Ever After" did exist,

(Call all you want, but there's no one home, and you're not gonna reach my telephone)
I would still be holding you like this
(Out in the club, and I'm slipping that bubb, and you're not gonna reach my telephone)
All those fairy tales are full of it.
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick

Oh, you turned your back on tomorrow

'Cause you forgot yesterday.
I gave you my love to borrow,
But you just gave it away.

You can't expect me to be fine,

I don't expect you to care
I know I've said it before,
But all of our bridges burned down

I've wasted my nights,

(Stop telephonin' me)
You turned out the lights
Now I'm paralyzed,
Still stuck in that time,
When we called it love,
(Stop telephonin' me)
But even the sun sets in paradise

I'm at a payphone (stop callin' stop callin')

Trying to call home (I don't wanna talk anymore)
All of my change I spent on you
(I left my head and my heart on the dancefloor)
Where have the times gone (stop callin' stop callin')
Baby it's all wrong (I don't wanna think anymore)
Where are the plans we made for two?
(I left my head and my heart on the dancefloor)

If "Happy Ever After" did exist,

(Call all you want, but there's no one home, and you're not gonna reach my telephone)
I would still be holding you like this
(Out in the club, and I'm slipping that bubb, and you're not gonna reach my telephone)
All those fairy tales are full of it.
One more stupid love song, I'll be sick

Now I'm at a payphone

It's not that I don't like you
I'm just at a party
And I am sick and tired of my phone r-ringing

Sometimes I feel like I live in grand central station

Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'Cause I'll be dancin', dancin'

Hey I just met you, and this is crazy

But here's my number, so call me maybe
It's hard to look right, at you baby
But here's my number.

And I'm at a payphone

(Stop callin, stop callin')
Trying to call home
(I don't wanna think anymore)
All of my chance I spent on you
(I left my head and my heart on the dancefloor)
Where have the times gone
(Stop callin', stop callin')
It's hard to look right,
At you baby,
(I left my head and my heart on the dance floor)
But here's my number.

If "Happy Ever After" did exist,

(Before you came into my life I missed you so bad)
I would still be holding you like this
(Before you came into my life I missed you so so bad)
But all those fairy tales are full of it
Another stupid love song, I'll be sick

I'm at a payphone trying to call home

All of my change I spent on you
Where have the times gone, baby it's all wrong
Where are the plans we made for two?

I left my head and my heart on the dancefloor
